The Internal Verifier award (V1 award) is a level 4 qualification most appropriate for experienced assessors who hold A1 or D32/D33 award and have experience of supervising others.
The verifier-candidate will need access to A1 candidates (qualified or working towards). They will also need to possess vocational expertise and a qualification in the area they wish to assess.
There is 1 unit to complete for V1, consisting of 4 elements, which usually take between 3 and 6 months to complete, although the registration period lasts for 18 months.
How is the award achieved?
The verifier-candidate undertakes 1:1 induction training and builds a portfolio of evidence to show their competence in:
- internal assessment activities and quality assurance systems
- supporting assessors
- monitoring the quality of assessors’ performance
- meeting the external quality assurance requirements
Other evidence gathered, includes attendance at regular standardisation meetings, completion of CPD and written evidence to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the unit. The verifier-candidate will receive regular support from their own assessor and an independent assessor, who will observe you in practice.
