The Vocational Assessor’s award (A1 award) is for competent practitioners who have experience of supervising others. The assessor-candidate will need access to two registered candidates to assess, who are undertaking a level 2 or 3 qualification.

The assessor award consists of one unit containing 4 elements, and usually takes between 5 and 6 months to complete, although the registration period lasts for 18 months.

How will the award be achieved?

To achieve the award, the assessor-candidate must assess 3 NVQ units from 2 candidates and gather other evidence to demonstrate their assessment activity, which includes attending regular standardisation meetings. The assessor-candidate will receive support from their assessor and an independent assessor, who will observe them in practice.
